For the Parents

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

One of the essential parts of our Nursery promise is to keep the parents involved as much as possible, throughout their child’s time at Orange Seeds. We have adopted what we consider a ‘family culture’ and, through regular communication, engagement and parent mornings, we like to keep our parents in the loop with activities, events and importantly, updates on their child’s progress.

  • A daily update, with photographs, detailing the main engagement activities of the day, with a more comprehensive wrap up at the end of each week.
  • The daily updates also includes the child’s feeding, changing and sleep schedule to allow all to be aware of their nursery routine.
  • A monthly newsletter with nursery updates, reminders and information regarding the curriculum themes.
  • The class calendar is posted on the nursery app. each month, introducing each week’s theme with an explanatory note of activities and special days.
  • A bi-annual report, measuring each child’s developmental milestones in the learning areas as well as parent-teacher meetings at the end of the three terms.
  • We host ‘meet the manager’ mornings, every two weeks, to allow the parents to book a candid session with the nursery manager and discuss any general or specific concerns.

  • Parent engagement coffee mornings (one per term) with a local market expert offering specialist advice and workshops on matters related to sleep, diet, communication, first aid and health and safety.
  • We regularly engage parents through sessions and talks when the children are learning about the world and community around them. We invite parents to share their nationality’s culture, pictures, food and music with their child’s class, sharing their world with others. Other parent engagement activities include volunteer reading during the child’s circle time, Mother’s day craft/cooking sessions, Daddy’s day out (and Daddy’s day ‘in’, inviting them to spend a morning in class with their child), International day, UAE National day and graduation day celebrations.
  • Each term we share parent feedback surveys and implement changes based on the parent’s feedback and suggestions.
  • End of year journal, a dated and labelled ‘memory scrap book’ of sorts, capturing the child’s beautiful art pieces, moments of development in mark-making or independence and a few precious class memories over the year.
